THE AMBARAWA RAILWAY MUSEUM

General Information

The Ambarawa Railway Museum is a railway station which is now dialihfungsikan into a museum in Ambarawa, Central Java which has a completeness of trains that never succeeded in his day. One of the steam railway with locomotive number 2502 B and B 2503 Maschinenfabriek Esslingen, artificial and artificial Hannoversche Maschinenbau 5112 B AG until now still can run activity as a tourist railway. Jagged steam train is very unique and is one of only three surviving in the world. Two of them exist in Switzerland and India.

In addition to the collection-a unique collection of yesteryear, can still be seen various types of steam locomotives of series B, C, D to most types of CC (CC 5029, Schweizerische Lokomotiv und Maschinenfabrik/Switzerland Locomotive and Machine Works) in the courtyard of the museum.

Ambarawa is a town the military Colonial Government of Netherlands. King Willem I ordered to build a new railway station that allows the Government to transport troops to Semarang. On May 21, 1873 the Ambarawa railway station, built on land 127,500 m². It was originally known as Willem I Station.

This station originally became a meeting point between the gauge 1435 mm towards the Kedungjati with 1067 mm towards Yogyakarta via Magelang. This can still be seen that both sides built a train station to accommodate the size of the gauge.

The Ambarawa Railway Museum was then established on October 6, 1976 in the Ambarawa Station to preserve the steam locomotives then being at the time of utilization of back when 1435 mm rail lines belonging to the State closed Railway Company. This is an open-air museum in the station complex.
 
 
The Museum serves the tourist train Ambarawa-Bedono pp, Ambarawa-Tuntang pp and lori tour Ambarawa-Tuntang pp. tourist train Ambarawa-Bedono pp or better known as the Ambarawa Railway Mountain Tour operates from near by Bedono station museum is just 35 km away and is only 1 hour to get to that station. The train passes the serrated rail there is only here and in the Sawahlunto. A panorama of natural beauty such as the Green Valley between Mount Merbabu and mount Ungaran can be seen along the way.

Panoramic views can be enjoyed from the train and lori Ambarawa-Tuntang pun not less good. This train departs from the station towards the Tuntang Station is about 7 km from the museum. Along the charming landscape can be seen in the form of rice paddies and fields against the backdrop of Mount Ungaran, mount Merbabu, and Swamp Reel at a distance.

Facilities

This RAILWAY museum collecting 21 steam locomotives. There are currently 3 locomotives which can operate. Other collections of the museum are antique telephones, Telegraphs Morse equipment, antique bells, and some antique furnishings.
A few steam locomotives class B unit 2 was 25 (Esslingen 0-4-2RT) IE B B 2503 and 2502 (2 of the 3 remaining locomotive units; the third, B locomotive 2501 memorialized on Monument Palagan Ambarawa).

First, there is a steam tender class E 10 (Wells 0-10-0RT), numbered E 1060 was originally sent to Sumatra in 1960 to attract coal train, but was then brought to Java, and a conventional locomotive 2-6-0T C 1218 who revived in 2006 after a long stored in Cepu, then relocated to Ambarawa in 2002.

However, the locomotive repatriated back to 1060 E Sawahlunto while locomotive C1218 brought to Surakarta made tourist train Jaladara. Recently the museum was able to diesel locomotive hydraulic D 300 23 originating from the Cepu locomotive dipo moved into dipo locomotive Ambarawa on October 6, 2010. Steam locomotives of B a Hanomag factory-made 5112, has been successfully revived after 30 years to die. Museum of Ambarawa also have several new collections such as the wooden train CR from Madura, wooden trains from Kebonpolo, Magelang, NR wood of the porch Yasa, hopper GR from the porch of Yasa Manggarai, and others.
Transportation

It is easily affordable, making the Museum Locomotive became the mainstay of the city attractions. When the adventurers from the direction of Semarang, road access should be passed only to the South in the direction of Ungaran then after reaching the t-junction Bawen please heading toward Jogjakarta (turn right) towards the pillar sites of Ambarawa. When from Jogjakarta, adventurers need only run perpendicular to the direction of Semarang and directly to the fork in the Ambarawa to beef up the monument. After arriving at the tugu Palagan Ambarawa, adventurous just turn left (direction of Semarang) or right side (Yogyakarta), now about 100 meters again reach in museum Boerhaave.

For the line from Solo adventurers can pass through alternative pathways leading directly to the back of the Museum Boerhaave. Adventurers can skip the line Blotongan Banyubiru Ambarawa with views of the picturesque Telomoyo on the right also the vastness of the swamp Reel (the next adventure) exotic on the left side. When willed another lane, adventurers can get past the line of Salatiga Tuntang (Bridge turn left) – the Ambarawa.
